DEPARTMENT MANDATE
The mandate or main objectives of the Department of Labour & Industrial Relations are:
to foster a climate of good industrial relations throughout the community;
to assist employers and employees in the resolution of disputes through conciliation, mediation, arbitration, workshops and seminars;
to provide relevant information to the community on custom, practice and legislation governing employment relationships;
and to monitor local labour standards to ensure that there is compliance with international labour organization conventions and recommendations.
